Aidee de León

Painting

AIDEE DE LEON.png

Aidee de León is an artist whose pictorial practice develops within contemporary abstraction. She holds a degree in Visual Arts from the Academia de San Carlos and a Master's in Artistic Production and Research — adapted to the European Union framework — from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona.

In her works, there is no greater reference than Aidee herself; her experiences and memories are perpetuated through painting. Drips, stains, and controlled accidents converge to generate fluid rhythms of movement — which, in the artist's own words, can only be achieved when you move the brush and dance with it.

For Aidee, it does not matter whether the viewer recognizes any particular form; she fulfills her mission when someone approaches her work without knowing why they were drawn to it, and manages to transmit through each brushstroke the energy and passion she pours into every one of her creations.

Her work has been presented in exhibitions in Mexico and abroad, including a solo show at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, and a group exhibition at the 23ème Salón des Arts Cavalaire Maison de la Mer in France. She has twice been awarded the Young Creators grant from FONCA and currently holds a grant from the National System of Art Creators.

"The memories and colors I see are stored away,
and then they become a dialogue with painting."
