Painting · Sculpture

A graduate in Graphic Communication Design from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana and a passionate lover of music, Fernando Garrido found in painting an infinite universe of possibilities — creating fictional worlds to which he invites us through every oil painting and sculpture he produces.
Alchemists, sorcerers, sages, kings, and madmen inhabit his works in surrealist scenarios where they confront the great game of life, the search for knowledge, and the longing for happiness and harmony. In each creation the true protagonist is the artist himself — consciously or unconsciously, Master Garrido lives these stories and deciphers these mysteries.
Love, disillusionment, envy, wonder, and happiness are constants in his work. They are unique moments that become a magical and unreal game, where bubbles, spheres, musical instruments, and flamboyant hats invite us to reflect, underscore a point, and engage in dialogue with the viewer. The bubbles, for example, symbolize longings and dreams — upon reaching them we destroy them; so fragile and beautiful, so full of light.
With thirty years of artistic career, his work has been exhibited across Mexico, with notable venues including the Poliforum Cultural Siqueiros, the Banco Nacional de México, the Museo de Arte de Querétaro, and the Museo Diego Rivera. Internationally, his work has been presented in the United States, Central America, and Europe — highlights include exhibitions in Sweden at the Göteborg Konstmuseum in Gothenburg, and as a special guest at the International Art Exhibition at the Edsvik Kunsthall and the Viterviken Museum in Stockholm. His works have participated in more than 60 auctions at the national and international level.
