Jordi Boldó
Painting · Printmaking · Sculpture

Jordi Boldó is a painter born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1949, who became a naturalized Mexican citizen in 1952.
His painting stems from Catalan Informalism and draws on the tradition of mid-century American Abstract Expressionism, as well as that of certain Mexican artists of the generation now known as the "Ruptura." His work is essentially pictorial — beyond fashion or trends — and poised midway between abstraction and figuration.
He articulates, with great richness of means, a deeply emotional language — powerful in its mystery and delicate in its nuance. His work is characterized by a refined and disconcerting sense of color and composition, with strong textures and a mastery that is frequently not apparent at first glance. With nearly forty years of solo exhibitions, he has shown in museums and galleries across the Americas and Europe. Recognized with numerous awards and distinctions, he has also served as a juror in various competitions.
He has been a member of the National System of Art Creators since 2000. He dedicates part of his time to writing, cultural promotion, and the teaching of painting.
