Raúl Campos (Querétaro, Mexico, 1992) is a Mexican figurative painter whose practice combines classical European technique with contemporary philosophical concepts.

His composition and technique echo the work of great masters such as Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Rubens, and Velázquez, while his materials and supports honor the fundamental principles of painting's history. The treatment of linen, the preparation of the surface, and the passage of time are constants in the creation of his visual universe. His work raises questions about what we consider right or wrong in society. Through a playful visual language, his figures show us illogical activities that, nonetheless, occur in everyday life — we need only substitute certain elements. With remarkable academic technique, he creates dialogue, poses questions, and invites reflection.

Figures carrying rocks, writing carelessly in the middle of the ocean, catching fish in a bottomless basket; nearly pitch-black spaces, red sands, fog on the horizon: a reminder that imagination knows no limits in communicating with the world.

He began his training as an apprentice to Maestro Román Miranda in Querétaro, where he made the decision to become a visual artist. He later moved to the colonial city of San Miguel de Allende to continue developing his work, before deciding to relocate to Florence, Italy, to study at The Angel Academy of Art.

Raúl Campos was the first Mexican artist accepted into The Nerdrum School in Norway. His work has been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions in Mexico and abroad. Among them: "Otredades" at the Museo del Pueblo de Guanajuato; "Summer Show" at Colin Galleries, Massachusetts; "Metalenguajes" at Galería Libertad in Querétaro; "Después del Barroco" at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Querétaro; "Affordable Art Seattle" at Hall Spassov Gallery, Seattle; "Mix N Mash" at the MEXIC-ARTE Museum in Austin, Texas; and "El sueño de los despiertos" at the Museo de Arte de Querétaro.

In 2022, Raúl Campos was named by Forbes México on the list of the "100 Most Creative Mexicans in the World."

"My aim is the aesthetic representation of nature and of man, through small narratives."
